One (1) position in Environmental and Public Health on “Epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases”

 

Description: This position will focus on the study of risk factors (both environmental and genetic) for atherosclerosis using existing and newly generated epidemiological data. Atherosclerosis is a physiological process associated with aging, however, while a certain thickening of the arterial wall occurs naturally through increasing age, the pathophysiological processes that lead to the formation and increase in the size of atherosclerotic plaques, leading to cardiovascular events with consequent social burden. Due to the constant increase of the average age of the population, research into risk factors (especially variable ones, i.e. environmental) that are associated with this process and can improve the predictive capabilities of existing risk models for cardiovascular episodes, is of particular interest.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and a recognized Master’s level postgraduate qualification in a related field.

A good knowledge of Greek and English, and fluency in the use of statistical programs are required. Professional and research experience will be considered an advantage.
